About the Presentation
AI experiences are moving beyond simple chat interfaces. Instead of only returning text, modern AI products can generate, assemble, or adapt interface elements based on what the user is trying to do.
In this presentation, Jonathan Lewin will introduce the concept of Generative UI, or Gen UI, and explore how it applies to adaptive AI experiences. He’ll show how AI can return cards, tables, forms, charts, workflows, and interactive components instead of long text responses. He’ll also cover the key patterns and technologies behind this shift, including tool calling, structured outputs, MCP, component catalogs, design systems, and SDKs such as Vercel AI SDK and OpenAI Apps SDK.
The goal is to give builders, designers, and product thinkers a practical understanding of how Gen UI works, why chat is not always the right interface, and how to start thinking about AI-native experiences that are more useful, contextual, and actionable.
In this workshop, Jonathan Lewin will demo an already-built app that uses Generative UI to create an adaptive AI experience. He’ll show how the app uses AI to return interactive components, adapt the interface to the user’s intent, and connect Gen UI patterns to tools, structured outputs, and reusable UI components.
